The VF-1S is the custom model Valkyrie used originally by squadron leader Roy Fokker and taken over after his death by Hikaru Ichijo. The 1S type Valkyrie appears to be reserved for use by squadron leaders.
Also known as the Veritech in the US release of Macross under the Robotech title.
